David is 51 and lives in Christchurch with his new wife Sarah, they got married in Venice in May 2015.
David has two sons from his first marriage and has equally embraced Sarah’s three sons (Matthew, Ollie and Ben). David’s boys, Charlie and Daniel are both musicians. Charlie lives in London and is a singer songwriter and Dan is doing a degree at British and Irish Modern Music institute (BIMM) in Brighton studying song writing.
David grew up in Ferndown but spent a lot of time in Christchurch where his father was a lifelong member of the sailing club, so it was only natural to move there eventually! In his late teens, he moved to Cyprus and then Florence in Italy – his ‘University of Life’, in which he left with an uncertificated honours degree and a wealth of life experiences!! Returning to the UK in his early 20’s David embarked on a career in financial services.
Apart from three years working in Bahrain David has been providing financial advice locally for over twenty-five years.
David is a member of SOLLA, (Society of Later Life Advisors), an accreditation recently attained after a two-year application process which was testing and challenging, so he is rightly proud of this achievement. He is also a very experienced at providing advice to elderly clients, dealing with issues ranging from pre & post retirement, IHT planning and Long Term Care Planning.
David best explains what he does using a ‘timeline’, helping clients prepare for retirement, enjoy their retirements and makes sure finances are in order to minimize tax and maximize enjoyment and if needs be, later life care.
David is a keen golfer and loves cooking. He also loves travel, which is why the next or last holidays are often part of the annual review with clients! Fairly recently David and Sarah spent three weeks in Vietnam, travelling by train from one end to the other, which was an amazing experience. There are usually a couple of European trips each year, including time spent in his Late Mothers apartment in Calpe on the Costa del Sol in Spain.
