Our Executive Team bring a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge to their roles. Together, they share leadership of the day-to-day management of Succession, as well as the delivery of our long-term vision and commitment to an exceptional client experience.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Roger Marsden


Roger became CEO of Succession Wealth in February 2024. He has 30 years of experience in Financial Services having previously worked for Aviva, Barclays Capital, and Deloitte.

Roger is a Chartered Accountant and has successfully led both wealth and retirement businesses and has significant board experience.

Chief Financial & Commercial Officer

Steve Willis

Steve is a Chartered Accountant with more than two decades of experience gained in accountancy firms, financial services and high-growth commercial environments. Since joining Succession Wealth in 2019, he has played a central role in strengthening the Group’s financial foundations, modernising its data and reporting capabilities, and supporting major strategic and operational programmes across the business.

As Chief Financial & Commercial Officer, Steve leads the Group’s Finance and Commercial functions. His remit spans financial strategy, commercial performance across the Group’s divisions, and enabling planners to support new and existing clients. He works closely with colleagues across the Group to shape Succession’s long-term commercial direction, and ensure the business delivers a consistent, high-quality experience for clients and planners.

Steve brings significant technical expertise combined with a highly collaborative approach. His background in financial auditing, corporate finance (M&A) and banking gives him a strong understanding of both financial discipline and the practical drivers of commercial growth. He is known for his open, partnership-led style and his commitment to building sustainable improvements across the organisation.

Alongside his role at Succession, Steve is an active supporter of charitable and community initiatives and takes an interest in causes championed across the Group. He enjoys a busy life with his family in Devon.

GENERAL COUNSEL AND COMPANY SECRETARY

Adrian Webb

Adrian joined Succession Group in September 2019 as General Counsel and Company Secretary. He is responsible for providing comprehensive in-house legal support to the business and he is also the Group’s data protection officer.

Adrian is a highly experienced corporate and financial services lawyer, with previous appointments as Head of Legal for Police Mutual and Head of Legal for Sun Life Financial of Canada. As GC, Adrian strongly believes that legal advice to the business must be commercial, clear, and focussed on providing solutions to ensure the business achieves its objectives.

STRATEGY AND PROPOSITIONS DIRECTOR

Charlotte Davey

Charlotte Davey is a financial services executive with over 18 years’ experience leading transformation and cultural change across complex organisations. She is Strategy and Propositions Director at Succession Wealth and a member of its Executive Committee, where she helps shape the firm’s long-term direction, with a focus on delivering consistently high-quality client outcomes.

Previously, Charlotte was Group Enterprise Risk Director at Aviva, where she led the strategic and cultural transformation of the Risk function during a period of heightened regulatory scrutiny. She delivered significant cost efficiencies while increasing engagement and leadership effectiveness and also served as Business Manager to Aviva Group CEO Amanda Blanc, playing a central role in executing group strategy and strengthening leadership culture.

Charlotte began her career as a commissioned officer in the British Army, leading teams in high-pressure environments and developing a lasting belief that sustainable performance starts with people.

Chief Technology Officer

Chris Truman

Chris joined Succession in December 2023 as Chief Technology Officer. He has over 30 years’ experience in I.T. and I.T. leadership, working in diverse industries from manufacturing to finance.

Prior to joining Succession, Chris worked for Aviva for over 5 years in several roles, his last being Director of Cyber Protection Services.

Chris is a member of the British Computer Society as a Chartered I.T. Professional.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Dawn Buckingham

Dawn joined Succession in October 2023. She has over 20 years’ experience working across Finance, Risk & Operations within the Financial Services industry. 

Dawn joined Succession from Investec Bank, where she was the Head of Operations, having previously been the Divisional Chief Operating Officer for the Private Bank.  Prior to Investec, Dawn has held a number Programme Director roles at NatWest / RBS running large change programmes.

Before jumping headfirst into running change initiatives, Dawn worked within the Finance department for an Investment Bank.  Dawn is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having qualified as one of the first cohort to do so outside of the traditional audit route.

CHIEF RISK OFFICER

Madeleine Nolan

Madeleine Nolan is Chief Risk Officer at Succession Wealth, responsible for leading the firm’s Risk and Compliance functions and overseeing its approach to governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.

She brings over a decade of experience in financial services, with deep expertise in risk oversight, regulatory change and strategic decision-making. Madeleine plays a key role in ensuring the firm maintains a strong, client-focused governance framework as it continues to grow.

Madeleine joined from Aviva’s Insurance, Wealth and Retirement business, where she was Governance and Assurance Director. In this role, she led the implementation of governance, risk and control frameworks across the business, supporting effective decision-making in a complex regulatory environment.

Earlier in her career, Madeleine held senior roles at AXA UK and Friends Life, where she built a strong track record in risk management and regulatory change, alongside leading and developing high-performing teams.

She is known for her collaborative leadership style and her focus on delivering strong governance and good client outcomes.


People Director

Matthew Gent

Matthew Gent is People Director at Succession Wealth, with responsibility for shaping and delivering the firm’s people strategy during a period of continued growth and integration. He works closely with the Executive Committee to ensure Succession attracts, develops and retains the talent required to support high-quality, independent financial advice across the UK.

Since joining Succession in 2020, Matthew has played a key role in evolving the firm’s People function from operational delivery to a strategic business partner. His remit spans organisational design, leadership development, employee relations, reward, and culture, with a particular focus on supporting acquired firms as they transition into the Succession group.

Matthew is passionate about creating inclusive, accessible career pathways within financial services. He has contributed to industry discussions on supporting disabled people to build sustainable careers in advice, and on improving diversity and fairness within recruitment processes, ensuring firms widen access to talent while maintaining high professional standards.

Before joining Succession, Matthew held senior HR roles both in-house and as a consultant, advising organisations across a range of sectors on people strategy, change and employment practice. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Employment Law and brings a strong governance-led perspective to people leadership.

Outside work, Matthew enjoys a busy family life in Devon and has a particular passion for both watching and participating in various sports and martial arts.
